About
Nichole is a Canadian-born, Birmingham-based artist whose expressive, layered paintings explore the strange beauty of plants and the shifting experience of identity. Raised in the vibrant landscapes of Central America, her early environment was saturated with sunlight, colour, and untamed nature. It shaped a lifelong fascination with growth, transformation, and the wild.
Working primarily with oil, acrylic, poured house paint, oil sticks, and acrylic gouache, Nichole’s practice lends intuitive mark making with bold, illustrative forms. Her paintings centre surreal flora and expressive feminine figures, acting as symbols of inner worlds, emotional states, and the complexity of becoming.
At the heart of her work is a desire to make sense of chaos: the chaos of memory, of womanhood, of expectation, of selfhood in motion. Through colour, texture, and composition, she explores what it means to exist in a body, to belong, to break form, and to bloom in unexpected ways.
